Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Being in good control and watching your diet, exercise will not cause you to gain...do check with your doctor
I'm on quite a lot of medications. Janumet, Glyburide, Lexapro, Lisinopril, Vitamin D, Bystolic, Crestor
My meds seem to be upsetting my stomach for an hour or two a day but I do get over it.
God Bless
For what it's worth, Lexapro and other SSRIs can cause significant weight gain. I did for me, at lease. I still take a small maintenance dose of it though for the other benefits.
I have been checking my calorie intact and it is very very low. Actually most days it is below 1200. My Dr. wants me on 1800. I have been reading about this and maybe my body is in starvation mode because I'm not eating very much. I don't seem to be gaining now and I did drop a few pds. Today I tried eating a little more so my calorie intact was about 1500. I hope that this will help me. I do need to drop a little weight. About 20 lbs would put me where I should be.
Thank you to all who are assisting me with ideas on what I may be doing wrong. This site is wonderful as well as each of you. Good luck with managing your diabetes.
