Does it typically read low or high ?
My fasting glucose level is always between 80 and 90 when tested by lab. The meter usually reads 98 to 106 for fasting.Testing the same drop of blood can vary 5 to 10 points.

meters that we use do not get what the hospital gets. They do different testing than just pricking our fingers. The doctors have a meter that is calebrated to very tight control and ours fluctuate but they are within the guidelines set by fed gov't.

Basically we use the meters as a guideline as to how food, meds etc are reacting with our bodies and yes you will get a different reading on different fingers, within a minute of each other, etc. The blood is constantly changing. Take your meter with you next time you go to the doctors and ask them to test you and you test so you can see roughly how much difference.
