Freaking out a bit...

My 6 month doctor's appt. is this week, going for bloodwork tomorrow.  I know my A1C is probably going to be much higher than it has been for a few reasons.  I was on prednisone, which really increase my numbers, I have not been careful about eating, and have not been exercising as much mostly because my schedule has changed.  I have been under a lot of stress and I also believe I am starting menopause as I have been having strange hot flashes.  I am always good about taking my meds, but my numbers have been mostly hovering between 130-150, including fasting numbers.  Sometimes it goes up to about 166 and was super high one time when I was on the prednisone - over 200.  I am never that high.  I am just worried she is going to want to put me on insulin.  I know I can do better, but will she believe me or just say that I need to go on insulin.  My last bloodwork was great - my A1C was about a 6.5 and everything else was fine.  A recent eye exam was also fine.  I am just extrememly nervous about this appointment

Your numbers don't look real awful. Hopefully, your doctor will give you a chance to
Improve. Mine did. And if you got put on insulin it doesn't necessarily mean you
have to stay on it forever. I was hospitalized and had to take insulin for several
months after I got out of the hospital. Then I went off the insulin and back on
just pills.

Relax, my friend. I was on meds for a year and a half but all of a sudden they stopped working. She changed meds and still the same. Did you do a complete pancreas test? My endocrinologist did a complete test of the thyroid, liver, kidney and pancreas. That will show you if it is still producing insulin, if not, then she will put you on insulin. Really, I find it so much easier to control those pesky numbers. I was scared at first, but now, oh well, it is what it is. Being sick will shoot those numbers up. But your numbers are well within the normal range. I have a few spikes too. With insulin, you have to be careful with the lows.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully it will just be an adjustment before doing the insulin, and I will ask her to run those blood tests as well
