Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Your numbers will rise naturally when you eat. The best thing to do is learn to listen to your body. If it has been 3 or 4 hours....chances are you need to eat. Your BS won't go from 120 to below 70 quickly.....you will have plenty of time to prepare or purchase food and eat if you are at 120.......100.......85........etc.
I always keep an atkins bar, some almonds, and those glucose tablets with me in my purse/car to make sure I am prepared for hypo......and I HAVE needed them.
I also have a bracelet and info on me that identifies to ppl should I lose consciousness or get disoriented that I am diabetic/type2.
I have informed the man that works with me what to do should I be unable to help myself. He knows to call 911 and tell them I am diabetic should I lose consciousness. It is always good to inform those you know on what to do to help you.
Keep up the good work and try to relax.
I have been so busy in my garden that I forget I am diabetic and need to eat......and keep hydrated.....but they symptoms always remind me :)
Take a few protein bars when you go to the gym. Keep a few cold drinks in your fridge. The only time it will drop is when you sleeping, that is why it is suggested to eat a bedtime protein snack.
There was a thread a while back about letting people know you Diabetic, contrary to what some believe, I tell everyone I am Diabetic, I want to be safe and secure in my skin. So tell your co-workers, keep a few Glucose Tabs and a Protein Bar in your pocket.
You only live once...enjoy it!
Yes i think i worry too much about it.
There have been times when my blood sugar has been in 90ies and i have been perfectly fine, and then there have been time when being around 120 has made me feel shaky...
I am on metformin and I have gotten some lows, but usually they are my creation - not eating, or eating enough carbs or just out working in the yard lol
