Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I think you should be proud that you are being as proactive as you can and have had some success. Your numbers don't seem so bad to me.......every little bit counts IMO.
Find a PCP who is either knowledgeable about diabetes or who will refer you to an Endo.
Keep up the good work and good luck should you decide to find a new doctor. I know my change of doctors was definitely worth it.
thanks again
Good luck.
and for the record my first 2 years I was barely under 100, but I didn't let that bother me since I wasn't sky high or over 125. Have you tried doing a protein snack at night? sometimes that will help
thanks
Also a hard boiled egg or a protein shake.
Regarding the protien snack - Hubby also goes to the VA and so his GP and the VA work together getting him the best. His VA doc suggested the protein snack at night. When hubby asked if ice cream qualified he peered over his glasses and replied." NO and if you think it does just check your blood level the next morning"
Another interesting thing he suggested was 2 tsp of cinnamon taken 1 tsp AM and 1 in the PM to lower his triglycerides. He is taking that in capsule form as he would never ingest it in foods daily. It will take 4-6 weeks to seem results so I am anxious to see if it it working.
