STBX-- had 20/20 vision b4 diagnosed with type 2 diabetes he also wears glasses at work now,only pill form meds no insulin yet.

Sister-- has type 1 diabetes with insulin 3x a day--she has to go every 3 months for laser surgery to relieve pressure behind optic nerve.

Be lucky its just glasses for you---stick to meds and diet and ck blood sugar regularly.

Yes, my eye sight has gotten worse over the years since diagnosed with type 2. Eye sight loss is one of the terrible tragedies of diabetes and even blindness if diabetes is not kept in control.
It does not help that I am now way over 40 and the natural eye sight changes anyway...that will play a role in your eye sight also.

are your numbers in control? or are they high? when the blood sugars are high, your eye sight will become blurry, or even can go blind.

my numbers shot up to 1000 and I was almost blind, could not see 2 ft in front, tho when the numbers came back into control, so did my eyesight

you should also get your eyes checked so they can see if maybe any damage to the nerves

My numbers fluctuate between boarder line high to boarder line low. I was diagnosed two weeks ago as type 2. I've had trouble focusing on desk tasks at work; I'm near-sighted - I wear contacts or glasses.

I had cataract surgery, both eyes due to Diabetes, that was many years ago..shortly after I was dx. The Doc believed I had Diabetes long before I was dx, but weighing in at 110 lbs, no problems ...no one knew. The day I went on Insulin I weighed 106 lbs at 5'6".

My advice to any one insulin or pills..watch those numbers and your diet.

My eyesight is getting where I need the glasses more often, but I'm not sure if it is genetics or the diabetes. I do keep track of numbers and control the blood sugar.

blurry eyes is a symptom of high blood sugars, it is possible you have been higher longer, do check with the eye doctor and then see if your eyes get better once you bring your numbers down within range

I've been very nearsighted since childhood - VERY - and wear contacts. Once I hit my early 40s, I also developed presbyopia (a farsightedness that requires reading glasses). It's a pain in the butt! Can't see far away or really close up! I see an eye doctor every year and now that I've been diagnosed as Type 2 two months ago, that will continue. Your vision changes may -- or may not -- have something to do with diabetes. It could be just age. But the bottom line is, you need get a checkup and make sure your doctor is aware of your diagnosis.
