Mine is/was a VitaMaster 55C dual action.
Unfortunately, twice now a very important weld has broken at the base of the grip which is obviously over stressed...otherwise, IMO, its a good unit.
I doubt if VitaMaster is still in business...in America, exercise machines do not seem to be "good business"..
What do you folks use ?

I use our treadmill, we got a heavy duty one from sears...when the weather is nice I walk outside. Jim has a bike, it is a DP air-gometer and he has had it for about 30 years. He has welded it, ordered parts for it and the meter that tracks the miles, etc doesn't even function right but he won't give it up lol

Has anybody ever used one of those little ones that you sit in a chair and pedal? The kind that's pretty much all pedal? I have really limited space--plus, I was thinking that if I were sitting in my own chair with the rest of me relaxed I might not have some of the issues that standard exercise poses for me.

I probably couldn't do much, but something would be better than nothing, right?

I had major foot surgery a few years ago and still can't walk long distances, which is a bummer since I used to be an avid hiker. But we bought the Schwinn Biodyne (I think it's called) a number of years back and it's been a life saver for me. Measures distance, heart rate, calorie expenditure, bmi, etc., etc. Also gives you various types of programs - flat surface, interval training (what I use), hills, etc.

I swear by it.

A Schwinn Biodyne ?
I'll bet it cost more then the VitaMaster....$35 now, maybe $70 new week (repairs, welding)..
But I love those gadgets, and the write up, AmDK....
The VitaMaster takes up about 2 by 4 feet; I'm lucky to have this space for it.....
Its clearing....walking takes no actual space ...lol

Checking out Schwinn....
They have the Elliptical line which seems to train both the arms and legs, which I think is far better than just the legs.
The Vita does this, but there is too much stress on the bike itself.
And I did not realize that they were so costly...
I'm an old penny pincher, 72, I think I should spring for a new Elliptical ???
I must overcome both age and diabetes, and high blood pressure (150/60/50)..

We bought our schwinn maybe 8 - 10 years ago and it was a glorified coat hanger for many years. Who knew that it would end up being such a life-saver?! And back then, I don't think it was quite as expensive as it is now. But it has more bells an whistles now...

The Stamina units appears to be compact.
The VitaMaster Dual Action (deceased) seems to be the only one with an upper body workout...and this is what has broken the machine - twice..
