Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
If I were you I would do research and get another opinion. Sounds like you are doing really well and perhaps never had diabetes to begin with...I am happy for you!
The clinic where I go tells me that a fasting level should be under 100.
100 to 125 is pre-diabetic.
126 or over is diabetic.
However, they also told me that the A1C is a better indicator of whether a person truly is diabetic.
I have all the risk factors. Older, overweight, family history, baby over 9 lbs., had gestational diabetes, and taking Zyprexa. Therefore I wanted to do everything possible to nip the 126 reading in the bud!
As for resistance training, is that the same thing as "strength training" like lifting weights? I could do that.
IMO...I think the public in general is so gullible when it comes to drs and medicine. Well 'seasoned' drs know all the games younger drs and big pharmas pull....such a mess. They stuff people full of 'new' drugs that are harming them down the road and also insist on high doses and of course lower numbers of every test. I will not go to new or young drs at all.....I will not be their latest "guinea pig research project" Nope.
