If you mean drinking as in alcohol, then yes he will have to watch this, it can raise his numbers high, stimulate his appetite which will cause him to eat more which of course will raise the blood sugars because too many carbs.
if it is coca cola etc, then diet drinks will be better of course, there is coke zero which is good and even pepsi has a zero type.
