Is anyone else taking this extended release version of byetta. i love what it's doing for my BSL and the cravings for carbs. I also love that it's a once weekly injection. I'll take 1 shot over 14, no problem! But....my injection sites itch for a week or so after and I've noticed tenderness in the injection area and I'm wondering if this is normal.

I am not sure. Are you injection in the tummy area? That is the best place, gets into your system faster. However, every once in a while I also itch after an injection, and I take Lantus and Humalog..so it's not what you are injection it's something else. At first I thought it could be my needles(trying a different brand), it's not..I don't know what causes it, I am going to ask my Doc.

I do however, when it itches, rub the area with a prep pad and that alcohol kinda helps.

I have read that the itchiness is normal for some people. I put my injections in the thigh and had less pain with them. I was on this for about 4 months or saw no progress at all. It did not help with hunger and it did not reduce my sugars. It was disappointing and I have no switched back to Victoza which does seem to offer lowering benefits and if I take it reguarly I am less hungry. Glad it is working for you though!
