Depends on whether you're the type who keels over at odd moments from insulin shock. I threw my bracelent away because A) I've never needed it and B) as soon as people spot it on your wrist they decide they're never going to let you eat a bite of food again w/o grilling you about it: "Are you allowed to eat that? Is that on your diet? Are you really allowed to eat that much? I thought you were supposed to be restricting carbs. My cousin Elmer ate like you do and he died a horrible death from kidney failure; are your kidneys all right? Are you sure? Are you allowed to eat that?"

The neckchain version is a lot less noticeable (unless you're swimming), allowing you a chance to eat in peace like a normal person.

I keep meaning to get one that says "NEVER MIND MY DAMN BLOOD SUGAR; CHECK FOR SHARK BITE."

What would happen if you were in an accident and couldn't tell them you're diabetic? If they took you to the hospital and didn't know this? I defiantely wear one. Better safe than sorry. Ask an EMT!!

I carry the fact that I am type 2 diabetic in my wallet with the meds I am alergic to and the ones I am taking. Along with the fact that I have implants in both eyes. And of course my drivers license.

I have a Medic Id bracelet that opens up. I believe it is made by Speidel. I have printed my contact info using a small font and then treated the paper using a spray water repellant and I find that the info is readable for several months (without the spray the ink runs and only good for about a week)

i think that you should have one. i do but i cant use it because i break out in hives when i do.but i also have the card insert in my purse that says what i take med wise and that i have type 2 diabetes.so i say if you have one use it.

I have the Medic Alert bracelet that I never take off. It is the one that is registered with a number for only you and EMT's know what to do when they see it. I think it is a good idea, but I have some other health problems so I feel safer wearing this. I have heard it is a good idea to put some important info. on your frig. too-esp. good if you live alone.
I guess this is a personal decision and one I debated on for a while. I got my bracelet onsale with Medic Alert, it is not the silver type but a gold link chain that looks like a charm bracelet and the charm/medallion is round. They have some nice ones that aren't very exp. I have a very small wrist so this type suits me best.

YES!!!! YES!!!! You deffinately need to get either the bracelet or the pendant. Because if something happens to you; the EMT'S will be able to help you alot better. Without one; they will be playing a guessing game about what's wrong with you. I have the pendant; which shows everything that's wrong with me----as well as a number they can call for more Medical information, such as midications and the name of your Dr's. They can also list your emergency contacts. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get either the bracelet or the pendant.

I have gotten a C.A.R.E. medibracelet. It uses a USB port connection that gives all my medical information including doctors' names, phone numbers, prescriptions and medical history.

There are many reasons to wear a medical bracelet. I wear one because of my condition as well as being on Coumadin. It is important if you are in an accident or become impared. I also wear mine for others to be safe. For privacy reasons, I wear one that says "see wallet card." No one has ever asked what's in my wallet. If they were, I'd have to say a whole lotta nothin'. I'm so broke!

Hmmm...I've never considered getting a bracelet. I have type 2 diabetes. I'm not on medication and it's well controlled with diet and exercise. My alc is 6.0. I'm not sure it would be necessary in my case.

Suzieloooooo: I'm also type 2. Granted I have other medical problems; but I think you should get a bracelet or a medalion just to be on the safe side. You never know when it will be necessary. So please get one.
