Better to have a "REASON" - when the #'

Early in the week my #'s hit 360 and I didn't eat a thing. (middle of the day but still fasting)
I got stressed out, worried, even upped my insulin and called the Endocrinologist.

The #'s stayed near or above the 200's for a few days until I resorted to taking some of my oral medication.
The Januvia and Glimepiride got them back in the low 100's after several hours.

Today I binged out! Not a good thing, I know, but the stress got to me.
I ate a Pop Tart, a slice of bread w/ P-butter, and a little bit of choc. pie.

Just tested - - - about 4 to 5 hours after the binge - - - got a 170!

Not a good number . . . . .but

BETTER TO HAVE A REASON WHEN YOUR NUMBERS ARE HIGH, THAN TO HAVE HIGH NUMBERS WITH OUT A REASON!

(ie. not eating, eating right or fasting)

If you don't eat your numbers will be high, your body goes into starvation mode and dumps glucose. The Docs are not kidding when they say, eat 3 times a day and 2 snacks.

Starvation mode or the Dawn syndrome . . . . . . that's what I was trying to get them to clarify last week with the high numbers, but all the Endocrinologists' nurse would say on the phone is - the doctor said to increase the insulin - she kept repeating that even after I told 'the nurse' that is what the doctor told me last time . . . and I WAS doing that.
LIVER - dumping in extra glucose - that makes sense to me.

BTW - Grannie, I like this Icon the best! Why do you and other people here keep changing them? It makes it harder to keep track of who is posting, at least for me. If I did want an icon, how would I go about getting one?

the body needs a set amount of carbs daily in order to function properly (organs, etc) if it doesn't get the fuel it needs in the form of food, etc, it tries to over compensate by having the liver create the natural sugars with the pancreas creating the insulin to process this for the body. With diabetes these two organs no longer can function properly to do their job which is why not eating causes more problems
