Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
also, since we limit carbs, we try to make them count- and healthier ones...like fruits...vs cookies have an added benefit of vitamins and fiber.
So whether it raises your blood sugar or not, keep doing that and you will be gaining weight upping your Meds.
Hey, when you get the urge to eat a cookie, you can substitute the white flour with almond flour. Almond flour is only 24 net grams of carbs per cup. I can make a chocolate chip cookie that is only 7 grams of carbs per cookie. The Almond flour and Splenda does not raise my blood sugar that much! I don't do that all of the time, but sometimes I have to have a cookie! Also, you have to search around for a really good low carb whole wheat bread. I finally found one that is 9 grams of carbs per slice. If I eat four slices I'm only consuming 36 net grams of carbs with my sandwiches. That rarely ever puts my blood sugar over 122!
I don't think all carbs are the same. They all affect our bodies in different ways. I also agree that eating too much white flour can make you feel sick and lethargic.
sugar as high as carbs with no fiber. Candy vs strawberries. Is this
generally correct? Also I have been trying to eat my cookie, ice cream,
or candy shortly after dinner. Hoping that keeps the blood sugar spike
level lower.

I agree with your thinking. I hope it's right. See what the others say.
