Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
My Dad was on Actos & did get bladder cancer. Not sure if it was the cause but he did get it after the medication was added.
Discuss your concerns with your doctor. He/she will explain their reasonings but you decide what you put into your body. Maybe the can wait to see if your A1C numbers go down after you are off of the prednisone for awhile.
I haven't took actos in many years.. So I can't really say about it's ability to work or any issues.. But I can say that you need to talk to your doctor about this.. It's probably ok to take while you're on the medication that could be causing the blood sugar to raise up but once you go off of it be sure to keep a good eye on your numbers..
