Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Keep up the good work on the diet. I need to lose some weight, but every time I do my A1C goes to low and the doctor says to bring in up.
I have never had any issues blood sugar issues, granted my BMI is not where it needs to be according to the chart. I am muscular, 6 foot 5 and 250. I look fit with clothes on, but I have mid section fat, so my goal weight is 220.
My diagnosis was based on the 2 hour test I took afrew weeks ago I had a 220 level after the 2 hours. So my Dr. ordered me to see a dietician. Before my meeting with the dietician my A1C results came back and it was 5.5. So my dieticain was labeling me as pre-diabetic.
Everything is happening so fast. I'm not trying to be in denial, I have accepted the fact that I need to change my diet and lifestyle and I have ever since my Dr's visit. I'm just confused by the 2 hour glucose test results and the A1C results.
That was the reason for my post. Any help with my confusion would be great.
Thanks
Good on you at this point !!
