Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I ate heart healthy for many years, not a lot of junk food, etc wasn't allowed in our house growing up and I tended not to keep junk food in house. I exercised faithfully, and the whole nine yards so when I was diagnosed with diabetes, doctors didn't want to believe it, it runs amuck in my family lol. Now I have relatives that are overweight, eat junk food/fried foods etc and their cholesterol is perfect and so is their yearly A1C when their doctors do this test. so you never know
There is no known proved cure for diabetes.. the one drug that was initially thought to have some "reversal" effects did not and was pulled out of the market because it was determined it causes brain damage..
Controlling sugar, carbo and fat intake help reduce complications but do not reverse the condition. Perhaps that is what you mean?
Minute someone hears "cure" they immediately think they are free of all symptoms, complications etc and they can continue life without a worry. We had here say back a ways "she no longer needed this group", "her doctor said she was cured, no longer had to test, etc" but she came back
the body needs carbs to begin with in order to function and the idea of "sugar free" is just so wrong since carbs are sugars and many so called sugar free has more carbs than regular food items.
Follow this and you should do just fine
then, this summer he ate everything bad all the time in great quantities. Then he got bit by a tick. the combination put him into super high numbers.
now, we are doing diet and exercise so he will need less meds, but honestly, I think we have progressed to the point that he will never have it as well under control as he did a year ago.
Yes, there are arguments about if it is chronic and progressive and all sorts of new age stuff...I just figure I have to help him as much as I can and see what happens....I don't think he is as motivated as I am. (or OCD?) I know we at least have influence over this disease.
Diet is too boring and dry - but I did it for a month - went up 25 points
and gained a pound - I guess because I ate more to compensate.
Some of his stuff is unrealistic - and if you look at the negative of anything it is grisly - yeah it sucks as we head toward death.
I returned the book - as it did not fulfill the title - but he has disclaimers in the book, which is unsatisfactory. Like, you can do everything in the book and still have to be on medication - sorry,
that is not a cure - cure - as no longer diabetic or predisposed to
being diabetic.
This country is filled with overweight spoiled people saturated on
sugar, fats, fast foods - and it is bound to catch up with you no matter what you call it. And falling apart as you age is a given.
The only thing I do is stay active and involved - do my best not to
eat whole cakes and whole pizzas in one sitting. and try my best
to enjoy myself. We are all headed to the same place - more or less - and you might as well enjoy the ride.
