Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
If you can't afford a Doctor talk to someone in your county at the Board of Health they are there to help people but you have to go to get help.
If you don't want to try 5HTP, I found that light therapy helps. Its a very slow process but anywho... go buy a lamp that is specifically designed for light therapy. There should be instructions. The one that came with my lamp said to just let it shine on you. Sure enough, two weeks went by and I felt a lot better.
Now... to the compulsive overeating thing... I'm with you on that one. Gawd... It is so hard to over come... in fact, I had to trick myself in to making myself feel like I ate a lot of food but in fact, it wasn't that much. It took around a month or two to get over it (although I've had my relapses. haha)
So, how did I do that? I bought loads of those Organic salad they're pitching at almost every grocery market. I just ate one box after another until I couldn't eat any more. Turns out, its good for me anyway. I got tired of it and had to munch on something, so I switched to old fashioned organic peanut butter. Then, I switched to bunch of other organic unprocessed foods like sun flower seeds, almonds, popcorn, cheese sticks. haha... yup.
Funny thing is at first my brain kept saying eat more, eat more but after a while my brain was like.... ok, thats enough green raw vegetables for you and thats enough nuts and yea... cheese sticks suck after the 3rd one.
In my case, to make a change, I always have to find my "sufficient motivator" since I believe that "once sufficiently motivated, discipline will follow". Easier said than done, but it works for me. Good luck.
If you can't do it alone, get a coach, a therapist, or a doctor whose guidance you trust and respect...and try again.
Type 2 can be controlled by a simply walking. Yes, I couldn't believe it either. It supposed to be better than aerobic exercise. It is effective and low cost. Exercise is as important as dieting and taking our medication, plus it will make us feel better. So grab your husband, wife, dog, kids, music or whoever and get to walking, believe it or not you will feel better. I know that when I walk I feel much better although I am a little tired afterward. Well that's all for now folks.
WE CAN BEAT THIS THING TOGETHER...ONE STEP AT A TIME.
