Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
You are doing great on your own, do you test?
Bread is a no no and if you cut out a lot of carbs you will drop weight.

Thank you for your encouragement.
I would start by testing your fasting reading, then see what different foods do for your sugar by testing 1 hour 2 hour and 3 hour post meal.
This site explains about where your numbers should be.

Yes gotta watch the doctors sometimes, this is something you need to take control of, after all only you can make the changes needed to control. first off stay away from white bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, they will raise your numbers...I eat fruits so you can have fruit. when you buy, pick the smaller sizes. Fruits will spike you quickly and then come down and fruits are good for you. Yes I do deserts lol...but I watch portion sizes, and not a regular habit of them. change from fried foods to baked, or broiled..
Watch your portions, learn to count carbs (sugar is carbs) and as Chuck stated, go to Walmarts and get a cheap meter and get in the habit of testing, this helps you learn which foods may not be good, etc...and most importantly get some exercise on a regular basis, start out light and ask all the questions you want
