Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Welcome to the club! Good news, hun. You recognized the problem and you're motivated to fix it. That means you'll actually be DOING something about it.
Anyway... see a dietitian or a diabetic educator. They are more helpful than I thought they would be. Knowing all the nutritional information on the Internet wouldn't have helped me a bit if I didn't know what to do with it.

That one is a pretty good site. I use it to figure out nutritional information on things I'm not sure of. I carry a copy of his book in my purse for when I am out and about.
For short right now anything white... yeah leave it alone. Rice, white flour, white breads, pasta and potatoes... anything you know thats outright sugar... limit or eliminate.
Unfortunately diabetes isn't an Ostrich disease. We can't just hide our head in the sand. I rather wish I could except my butt would be in the air and yeah... (laughter takes down blood sugar)
You can eat white poatotes if you do a process called retrograding. Something we all just found out about several weeks ago. Read back on our posts and they will help.
Fruit is good for us but full of sugar even though it is natural so be careful and eat just half.
Lots of places on the net to look. Were all different in what we can eat or not eat.
Spend a few hours reading upon it in the book store and take notes or buy the books.
Walk as much as you can or run if you so desire! Good luck!
