Is depression linked with diabetes?

It is. We can easily get depression - firstly due to the hormone imbalances if our blood sugars are erratic which cause mood swings. Also the pressure of constantly monitoring everything we eat and do all the time can affect us and trigger things. There are many reasons why we can develop depression but it is definitely linked.

I got type 1 about a year ago and I was 57. I was one of these almost always happy people and though I would get mild depression, it was rare. Now, I just find myself getting sad and a bit depressed way more often. I also don't sleep as well, so maybe fatigue may be part of the problem. I really try to not let this disease get me down, but it's tough.

I go to the gym and working out helps. I also get together with friends and that helps also.

I am determined to NOT let this disease get to me and so far I'm winning. Good luck to all of you.
