Diabetes Type 1 Support Group
Childhood","Childhood diabetes is when the pancreas in a child does not produce enough insulin on its own. In order to survive, insulin injections need to be incorporated as well as diet regulation. If your child is diagnosed with diabetes, find support and share your experiences here. Caring for a child with diabetes is challenging. We're here for you."
Run, walk, bike, etc., find a good way for motioning, 20 min.pr.day.
Don't believe all the wonder-hypes you hear. Treat them as crap, use your reading skills (ingredients on packages) and planning skills (like: I usually eat a full plate, Ill reduce it to 3/4).
Never loose more than 3-4 kgs. pr. month. We Type1's are at risk for anorexia, be very careful (fatal, remember!)
Best wishes towards a more healthy life, if you are too chubby. If not, think twice.
"Dont worry, be happy"
I have tried the South Beach diet. It did fairly well as long as I stuck to it. Only thing was I didn't really care for the menus and the strict beginning. Sorry but when I am low I am going to treat with whatever I can get my shaky little hands on which didn't always mesh with their diet plan. So that one went to the wayside for me.
I did try Weight Watchers but experienced burn out on that real fast. Sorry but counting carbs and points was just too many numbers for me to really get jiggy with that!
The one that seems to work the best for me (as in I've stuck with it the longest and still have had some weight loss - not stellar but enough people noticed) is what the previous poster said of just eat less. Although she mentions exercising more as well which is a good combo but I simply haven't found a way to wiggle that in.
Just by eating less and doing nothing else I have lost 30 lbs. over the last eight months. I'll take that!
I didn't even keep a log book of the food I ate and then decreased it the next week. I think most of us really do know - oh I usually take two scoops of that and a fistful of this especially when we have to take insulin for what we eat. So I cut back to a scoop and a half and little less then a fistful. You get the idea.
It was also easy for me to tell I was eating less as my log book for what I was using for insulin showed a drop as well. But yeah nothing special, something easy to say, and extremely hard to do is the diet I am on.
Good luck and do let us know if you try a particular diet.
