Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have been on Zoloft for maybe two months now. I haven't had any noticeable side effects. Maybe some stomach rumbling rarely, but nothing severe at all.
But it's different for everyone, especially the people who aren't 'abusing' it...
I'm taking a tricyclic named Doxepin which has been a lifesaver for me. And no side effects. It is designed for depression with anxiety, and insomnia so I take it at night and sleep like a rock. In the morning I feel great and don't suffer from anxiety or panic anymore.
Not so with Zoloft. I felt like the walking dead on Zoloft. Didn't have depression, but didn't have any interest in anything either and anxiety started to come back but I seemed too dopey to care about it.
The withdrawl problem is because of the brain chemistry changes induced by the medications. Sudden cessation from ANY antidepressant can even cause seisures in some people. Because of this problem, your pharmacist who fills your prescriptions will offer you enough for a few days while he/she, or yourself, can get your renewal. I'm sure your pharmacist will cooperate with you in that regard. They know how important it is that you don't suddenly stop your medication. So don't just stop because you ran out. Tell your pharmacist the situation and you'll be able to buy about three days worth.
