Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
after that treatment use a repair deep conditioner at least twice a week until you know your hair is better and then reduce on once a week
I have recently changed my hair back from blonde but the blonde was ruining my hair
Deep conditioner is your friend. You don't need to spend a lot...olive oil is actually wonderful for this. So are lotions made for African-American hair, since they're often specifically made to deal with heavy processing.
Heat it up and coat your hair, wrap it up and leave it in as long as you can. Do the same with any deep conditioner you use...heat it up first. Not to scalding, of course. Heat will help it penetrate better.
NEVER use any type of heat styling without a heat protectant on your hair. You can find sprays and serums, I like serums best. Don't blow-dry, straighten, curl, anything without one. Use the most on the ends, since they're the most damaged.
If you let it air-dry, use a serum then too, because it covers a lot of damage and gives you more shine.
You're at the point where you're trying to keep your length. The only way to do that is by stopping the damage from getting worse.
Did you color at home? I would really suggest seeng a stylist if you want to keep the blonde. You can try what I do...get highlights, but get tons of them. Tell them you want to look blonde from a distance...they'll get the idea. This is the only way I can have blonde hair and long hair at the same time. I tried doing it myself once and going single-process white-blonde (my stylist refused to do it)...and that's when I had to chop off most of my hair.
Don't rub your hair dry after a shower, squeeze it with the towel. Rubbing makes the puffiness worse.
Use a baby or kids detangler when you comb it out...tugging makes the puff worse.
If you're going to heat-style, make sure it's fully dry. Any moisture will...can ya guess? lol...it'll make the puff worse.
If you see a stylist, explain that you really want to avoid a chop-off and they still say to cut it all off...you might want to listen. Unless they're evil, they're not going to recommend that unless it's pretty much necessary.
Sorry this is so long. I've got extremely long, thick, wavy/curly dark hair that I've bleached and style-tortured for years, plus I used to work in a salon, so I soak up all the tricks I can find LOL.
Wishing you tons of luck...I know the feeling.
Annie
