Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, so I apologize if I am not and if I offended anyone.
I would like this thread to be for the wives of alcoholics (or girlfriends, partners etc.)
I created my account here about two years ago, dealing with the same issues that I face today. I dealt then with a best friend (lover) who felt broken and became an alcoholic after the military. I married him, he was alright for a time and in that time we married. I have no regrets..
I've fought his alcoholism for four and a half years, we moved thinking it was the environment that was causing it but I have learned that I thought wrong. Awhile ago he made his last choice, beer over his wife, we love each other very much and it's the reason it damages us so. Over the years I have lost myself to the pain of his 'inner demons' And so beginning today, I will be moving forward on finding myself and learning to love myself. If anyone feels the same you are not alone and we can do this together.
Even through I am dealing with this, my ears are open to those that are suffering the same or just even anything else.
There is hope..we can find it together.

There is a group here for alcoholics, but that would be more for you husband (or EX?). Perhaps the online equivalent of Al Anon????
Somebody have some suggestions?
Here is the link to the alcoholism group. I have several friends on this site in that group, and I do know that it's a very very supportive group and that there are members who are spouses/loved ones of alcoholics and you might want to join the group and post.
