I do, I hate this weekend, it is probably the worst worst weekend of the year for me, and i would venture some other veterans also...
Yes I am veteran, I proudly served during peace and for peacekeeping and war deployments... I've seen some of the worst in men of this world and while that does haunt me at times, ive also seen some the best of humanity during those same times and those are the parts I try to keep with me and treasure...
Like most of us, we do or did do it as it was a calling, something we felt was the best thing for us. Most of us chose to do it, it wasn't for accolades or rewards, it was just who we were... The entire time I served, it was an honor and people celebrated our service.. Everywhere i went, people thanked me, bought small things or would pay for my gas or a million other little things...
Let's not forget the veterans that didn't get the choice to serve or not, and when they came home didn't receive what we have now days..
We see it posted online, facebook and a lot other places about remembering the veteran's this weekend and through out the year, we do appreciate it... But for me, its not just remembering them, I usually end up remembering the how and where a lot of my comrades in arms said their final good bye's.
I remember their family's and what some of their children went through.. Some of them never even got to see a parent who were gone when they were born and never made it home.. All they will ever get to see are pictures, video's and stories... So it's not just the service member that we need to remember, also put the families into your prayers and thoughts also...
And with that I will say to all my brothers and sisters and there families, "Thank you"

Saying that I also would like to say that I don't respect the reasons that our military is being sent out to fight meaningless battles. I think we go to war now to make private contractors more wealthy. War itself has become a way to make men richer. I don't respect that.
I hope you didn't get offended by what I said because it wasn't towards any American service man. I do value all of those who fought for us and their brothers beside them.
@Drew - I wasnt offended at your comments as I knew where they were coming from, and while I do somewhat agree with you Ill kinda keep most of those from the boards...
@Gramy - Thank you, I do know there are alot of people that think of and thank veterans more than just on this weekend, but I also wanted to thank and remember the families of those that made the sacrifice as i do believe they don't get enough thoughts and praise for their sacrifices.
This was meant more to just get some thoughts out that I have had for a couple of years around this time of year...
