Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Death is nonexistence. Nothing. No pain, no joy. No pleasure, no discomfort. Absolutely nothing.
So you can hang around in this life for five more minutes, or you can go straight for nothing.
Well, when you look at it that way, surely you can handle the next five minutes? And the next five minutes after that? When you go for a ride in a car do you want to know what's around the next corner? Do you want to know what's in your next birthday present? Do you want to try things out and see if they work? Try out relationships, try out clothes, try out jobs, try out houses?
Or do you not want to try anything? No curiosity? No sense of adventure? No desire to accomplish anything or discover anything or have a good time down the pub on Friday?
When you die you don't get another go. You don't go back to the start. You don't get a corporate box and get to watch the rest of life. You no longer exist. You no longer exist in the way you didn't exist before you were born. which is to say, there's no 'you'. At all. Whatsoever.
You just biodegrade and any experience, good or bad, that you might have had, is gone for you forever. You don't know what you're missing out on if you go. You don't know if things would have turned a corner for you. But survivors here know you do turn a corner. Things do 'change' and change forever. They fix. So if you can't handle waiting, you're impatient and want to escape any pain, you might consider topping yourself. But those who have stuck it out and have had the whole thing just suddenly SHIFT under them to a better place consider that a really crazy thing to do. They think the wait is worth the reward.
Why do people who want to help always say the same things? Most likely because they speak from positive personal experiences.
Why is this life considered so beautiful and worth the pain? When your journey to recovery is over, you come back and tell me in your own words why, because you are sure to.
What keeps them going on even when the times are hard? A strength of character they never knew they had along with time, eventually time heals all wounds and. makes you stronger in the process.
Can anyone help me? I hope I just have.
