Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
That's some good venting. I can imagine how hard it is to get up and do anything.
But in the end, if you want a different life. Your going to have to change things.
You can't go on like this and suicide is NOT an option. People do care and love you. You know that....
This site has a great Journal entry page. Start keeping a DAILY Journal. After each log, you can make it private or personal. For one thing, a journal is highly therapeutic. Start putting down goals you want and need to do and change.
Sleep is difficult and your body is off track.
Try not to sleep in so much. Set your alarm across the room. Set it for 10am for a few days. Get your butt up and take a cool shower. Tired or not... Get up and have coffee or tea. Then do something. Fix something your mom needs or clean. Get in gear and help her out.
Next.... start looking for that next job. Something, anything that will put money in your pocket and pay your mom some room and board.
Don't think about women, sex or relationships. Obviously, you need to fix YOU before you can let someone in to your life.
Get a therapist....
Start eating right.... And I don't mean for your weight. I mean for your head. Go on the internet and find out which foods are good for Anxiety and Depression. Find which foods are Bad and make Anxiety and Depression worse. SUGAR and even Sugar substitutes are terrible for a depressive mind. Many foods actually help to bring up and balance your Serotonin and Dopamine levels. (Your feel good and happy chemicals). Which Your body is lacking.
Do something nice now for your mom. All the depression you have is hard on her. I'm sure she worries like mad.
YOU don't want to die.... But you want a change. You can't snap your fingers and be happy. But.... You can make a difference in your life.
Start that journal.... Write down your daily activities, goals and thoughts.
You can do this........
I hope you were encouraged by the responses you got here. Try to get better with all the advice they gave you. Consider focusing on the little things that you have in life as blessings and be grateful. There are so many people in the world that are in even worse situation. Sometimes the proper perspective can make a huge difference. And if you haven’t done so, there are government agencies and charities that can help you with food and necessities while you don’t have a job.
Just concentrate on yourself right now. Living alone or being alone and yet be joyful can be learned. You can start by not being envious if you see couples who seem to be happy. We were all single before at one point in our lives, and we got by. Maybe you can start doing things by yourself such as reading, walking or hiking. I helped someone start gardening and he learned to enjoy it and eventually met a woman who also gardened. Its hard to say what may or may not work for you, sometimes you just got to try it. So, don’t give up. There is always something out there that can give you hope.
Even though we can't see each other here, we all get it. We are here for the same reasons. We are friends and we do care. I am not in a strong place right now so I can't offer any great advice except I am glad that you talked about what you are going through.
Keep writing: I think a journal can help and writing for the group helps you and others. You'd be surprised at how many people feel just like you do. We are not "throw always" because we are depressed or are going through tough times. Some of the nicest, kindest people I know suffer from depression. Hang in there.
