Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Please try not to carry guilt on your shoulders though. I mean.. we're only human. We have enough to deal with regarding our own personal issues, challenges, etc..
Sometimes we can only do what we have the means to be able to do. Caring and supporting others can sometimes seem like so little but just letting people know that we are there for them, or sending them a card, or expressing our concerns can actually go a long way. I think that often times, our compassion likely means more to them than we give ourselves credit for.
I know what you mean about not getting the help you need. I'm stuck on the public mental health system here, and with the current budget cuts, I get only medications, no therapy no nothing. It's hard when you don't get what you need. That's not your fault either. It's hard making ends meet in today's economy, and some things just have to go by the wayside in the attempt to stay alive and meet basic bills. It's not your fault.
I'm sorry you're struggling so much. I hope things get easier for you soon.
