Rubbing salt into an open wound. I am without a job right now, money is tight and my spouse went into the city with a friend to see a broadway show. She bought the tickets ages ago, did not think the show was to my taste anyway --- she is having a wonderful night out, I am home alone and not in the most positive frame of mind anyway....

SHE JUST CALLED and told me she found the BEST French Restaurant in the world and is bringing the card home. WOW, AND I HAD A BURGER KING DINNER...BOY, AIN'T I LUCKY.

next time suggest getting tickets that you all will enjoy , i am sure your friend didnt mean to hurt you , but you deserve to be as happy as she was that night

maybe next time you should force yourself to go with your wife. sometimes a night out away from the house is just what the doctor ordered.

MANY THANX one and all. I am also depressed for other reasons, job hunt and aspbergers. She -spouse- is also going to Italy in three weeks, and I'll be alone brooding so that is not going to be a joyous time indeed. Will be here alot during that time. Read my journals and you'll see how just flat out DOWN I am these days.

I've been there too...my husband doesn't go out much at all. One time in like months, he is out with people from work (I work there too) and he comes home late. The thing that bugs me is that he doesn't talk much to me but how can he be out and talk to others. Most times, I don't even want to be there so why should I get mad at him? I think when it comes down to it, I'm jealous.

You lost your job and she's going to Italy?????? Either you have lots of money and your cash flow is good, or she is being very selfish by spending money you may not have since you are out of work, for her own pleasure. Perhaps you should ask her to reconsider given your work situation. I don't know your financial situation but if money is tight and she is still insisting on going, you will have financial problems on top of your current problems.

Change attitude to have gratitude: can you not be happy for wife or are you the only one who counts and should be the only one happy? It is okay to feel sad, neglected, etc. Feelings are just feelings. It is what you do with that count. If you have to fake it until you make tell your wife how happy you are for her that she had fun and you appreciate for thinking about you while she was having.

The Italy trip was paid for before I lost my job, case closed there. I do worry about being alone for a week as in my darker moments (read the journals folks) I am a bit suicidal.

She did not "have" to call and tell me about the great restaurant. Could have saved that for later.

Money: she has all of it, I have none of it. Closed subject. She gets a french dinner, I get burger king.
