Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm sorry I don't really have any advice for you. If I did, I doubt I would be feeling as miserable as I do. Just hope you know that you aren't alone here. Lately, I've been finding this site to be helpful. It helps sometimes to know that I'm not the only one going through what I'm going through, even though that's how I feel anyway, 99% of the time. Coming on here and knowing I can vent without the fear of being judged is comforting though. I used to write a lot in my journal, which I also found helpful sometimes. It's just been so hard to get up the motivation to even do that though.
Really hope you feel better soon. Again, I'm sorry I probably wasn't much help.
As for the cause of depression, ...
I stopped paying attention to the experts when they talk about the causes of depression because they seem to say it is either caused by chemical imbalance, DNA, or life experiences. Hmmm, they covered it all except for alien abduction and experimentation on a UFO hiding on the other side of the moon.
All 3 seem reasonable to me.
Can you pinpoint any events that seemed traumatic that may have caused things? Was there a sequence of events that led up to things?
Rather than resign yourself to long periods of sadness, making doctor appointments is a good place to start. The primary doctor is most likely to check for physical things that may be at the root. Then a therapist or psychiatrist can evaluate you for emotional causes.
And then comes the balance of "who is more right" and "what is the best treatment".
If you have done all this, I am sorry for repeating things.
Don't be too concerned about the future...all we have is the present anways.
