Went to my psychiatrist today

I braved an almost blizzard here in Nebraska and drove 75 miles to see my psychiatrist today. I was desperate to see him. I showed him my shaky hands & told him Im a nervous wreck. I told him what my son said yesterday & he said "DO NOT back down, remember, you need to take care of yourself right now. Your sons are grown men & need to handle their own lives" He said what my son did was total manipulation. He was pretty upset about it & said it was inexcusable.
He doubled my anti-anxiety meds & is starting me on Pristiq. I am curious what results anyone else has had on it? I swear I have tried over a hundred different AD. They either don't work at all, or work for awhile, then quit. I am SO frustrated, I just want to crawl in bed & stay there for a week. I know that is not an option, it would make me worse.
My birthday is tomorrow, so at least I wont have to cook :-) lol

I hope u have a happy day tomorrow! I was on pristiq and it seemed to help, although it took time to get used to it. Made me feel weird at first but then it helped.

Happy birthday!! I hope you have a great day. I hope the meds work well for you, I've been on several myself with varying results, so I understand how much of a crapshoot it is.

I was on Pristiq for over a year and it did help my depression. The reason I ended up switching was that it made me very tired all the time. My sister took it and it didn't make her tired and she was on twice the dose I was. Its different for everybody. I don't want to discourage you from trying it because it was effective, but it was the most difficult drug Ive ever been on to wean off . It and it's sister drug Effexor have a short half life , which mean it leaves your system quickly when you miss a dose . weaning off was done by reducing the dose by 1 pill per
week for 7 weeks . When I got down to the weeks w. 3 pills or less, it was like having a mild case of the flu for 3 weeks. But about 14 days after the last pill I felt fine.
