honestly? I would think that the person must have done something pretty awful for their own son to deny them.

A little background would be helpful. I have seen people deny their parents for both good reasons and for not so good reasons.

I will say that for many families, this is a part of life. I didn't speak to my mother for several years. I regret that now, but I don't think I had a choice at the time.

Some kids do it because they don't get along with their parents. Others do it because they are out of control and don't want to hear their parents trying to help them.

I would say that it means there has been a break down in communication. For it to have gotten that far it means that what ever methods of communicating (and interacting) have become ineffective, and that all parties need to thing about different methods of communicating and interacting.

From there it goes on pure speculation as to what is wrong, who is wrong and all that.

So to speculate that you are involved in this personally, I say hugs to you and I hope you are able to work it out.
