Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
You are far too hard on yourself and I hope you can learn to trust yourself and believe in yourself. The older I get the less I care about what people think of me. Therefore, the older I get, the more I enjoy life!

I had been having some difficulty with my depression since the Fall. It was felt that my antidepressant was no longer working well for me and it was decided I should be switched to another. Before I could start the new medication I had to be weaned off the existing. To make a long story short I was weaned off the medication too quickly, which sent me in to an emotional tailspin (I later learned it was a withdrawal syndrome). I ended up attempting to take my life, spent four days in ICU and a further three weeks in hospital.
I seem to be having a very difficult time ... I'm not sure what word or phrase to describe it ... 'rebounding' I guess, and trying to get back on track.
I see my psychiatrist monthly, and have regular sessions with a wonderful counsellor, but despite all of that I feel like I'm spinning my wheels.
After 40+ years living and fighting with this illness I feel so drained.
LIFE WILL ALWAYS LIVE IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER.

1. It's okay to judge me, just remember to be perfect for the rest of your life.
2. If you judge people, you have no time to love them.
3. Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if we can't help them, at least don't hurt them.
4. The tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do. James 3:5
Hang in there and try to forgive those that offend you.
God bless you
My doc usually.just switches me.. no weaning.
I find a lot of people to be judgemental and plain rude. I ignore them as much as possible.
A desert island sounds cool...long as you got food, water and shade. ;-)
Enigmatic, you are so right about the human nature aspect of it. I think 'the sting' is greater when it comes from someone we care about.
Gramybear, thank you for the quotes.
Oh my gosh, eshaw, not confusing at all. You hit the nail on the head.
Again, thank you everyone and hugs to all.
If you try to be someone else just so that other will accept you - that's hard work and you sort of lose yourself. I have more thoughts on this but the words aren't coming.
But I do understand what you're feeling.
