Cara is my daughter. She died October 30, 2006. Cara struggled for years with feelings of self doubt. It makes me so sad for her... for myself... for the millions of other people who keep thinking we just don't fit in...
I remember oh so well my fears for Cara way back in Jr High when she attempted suicide in the 7th grade... I tried to help her... some people still tried to tear her down... and I've hated them all these years... but I'm coming to understand that a lot of people are mean because they hate themselves so bad... and they're just lashing out... so I'm letting that hate go...
Cara is doing good now... She's not sad... Its wonderful there...
I wrote this for her... I'm glad she doesn't have to hurt anymore...
We're Not So Different
I felt so different and alone...
I thought no one understood
I never felt like I was quite good enough
Everyone else did... but I never loved me...
Now I can see all the things I couldn't see before
I'm not so different from all of you...
You're lonely too, like me you think you're just never gonna be good enough...
You're sad and you're hurting, and you feel like no one will ever understand
If you're cruel its because you hate yourself
You're just trying to fit in
You think no one loves you
You're wrong because I do
No matter how you hurt me in the past
I know you didn't mean it
You just wanted to fit in
You see... we're not so different after all...
I just hope maybe someone will read this and maybe it will help them... I think Cara would like that too... She was a loving giving soul...

People come on here a lot and say that they want to commit suicide and im always one of the ones that tries to talk them out of it. They can never come back for a 2nd go at life if they do that and the pain ( as you know only too well ) that it causes those left behind is what I try and tell them to live for or the fact that it WILL get better but that it needs working at. It sounds like your daughter was bullied...I was too and for years I believed all that they told me. That I was this and that and all these nasty things that they used to say so I know how hard it is to rise above it and she must have been going through hell and its such a shame that she couldnt see past the blackness. I dont know what to say apart from that the hell that it must have put you through must have been so very very hard and I hope that those reading your post that want to end it all rethink about just what it does to those around them and that given time...it can come right for them :)
