Hello,
I want to acknowledge some good things first and not just rant. I received a gift card from my employer today, which I will be able to use as a gift for Mom, so I am thankful for that. Also, I have had the flu, and when I went back to work today, we had a substitute there, and my boss offered that if I still felt sick, which I did, they could use the sub who came in by accident, and I would not lose a sick day. I am lucky! What a great thing to happen.
Ok, so that was the good news, but here is the news I don't like. I have about 'had it up to here' with the coaches/therapists in my area from a network of coaches that exist in my city. They are not traditional therapists, but life coaches that are independent and work from home, etc. I've found it much more helpful than traditional therapy.
However, they have turned out to be completely unreliable. I was in the middle of a real crisis in December, and the person I was working with at the time simply disappeared-abandoned all of his clientele, groups, etc. I was walking out the door one morning to go to my appointment and he sent me a text saying he could not make it, for the 100th time.
Since I was in the middle of a crisis, I had to scramble, hit the ground, and find someone else-immediately. We have only had three or four appointments over the past few months, and it's been going really well...and now she's doing the same thing the other one was. Here I had been looking on the bright side-I lost the one I really liked and needed, but it got straightened out...there was this really nice building right by my house that the new coach was leasing. Groups were going great, I was really excited about the new direction everything was taking, and not four months later this all falls apart too. I went to one of the last meetings and they announced that they could not pay the lease, so they sold all of the furniture and moved out. A few of the coaches were fighting so everyone split up. And if that is not enough, I guess my coach is getting a divorce, which could happen to anyone...but she is not keeping up with her job of coaching-at least with me.
Now my phone calls and texts are going unanswered all of the sudden. Can't get a hold of this woman. Yet I see on facebook that she is out having fun with friends. She told me she was getting burned out. I figured it had to do with the recent divorce, so I just told her I hope she's ok. I waited a couple of days and asked her if she still was taking appointments and she said "yes of course, so sorry, I didn't get back to you I thought I did." This was early yesterday. She said she would get back to me by the end of the day Tuesday. Well that came and went. I was going to be in her city this weekend Saturday-nothing. she didn't tell me her schedule and again seems to be going AWOL. Which I think is inexcusable for a professional.
I am losing all confidence in this and the process. What kind of person, who wants to start a business (any person) just says ***** you to the clients like that? How would you run ANY business like that, not just a counseling or psychotherapy profession. Give me a break!!
After I got to know her, I found out a little about her history. I was not aware, but apparently before she did recovery and therapy, she used to sell drugs. She was also hospitalized five times for severe depression in one year. I can't make any judgments on the hospitalization as I've been there, but I am starting to wonder. Is this a person who is cut out to be helping others? As a person with mental illness myself, I would never presume to be an authority for others. Maybe she has some severe disorder that makes her unreliable. I don't get it. She is really talented and seems to know what she is doing in her groups and sessions, really does good work. But I can't help but think this is her way of getting rid of a client she doesn't want!! God knows it's expensive enough, holy crap, I pay out of pocket. I pay $100.00 per session once a month. That's not too bad considering what therapists get paid, but I pay in cash and it's about all I can afford in cash.
The most repulsive part about all of this is I NEED HELP!!! My nightmares are coming back and I needed an appointment! I need treatment for my ptsd and anxiety, and I don't need to be sitting here in endless suffering just thinking I am going to be dropped at a moment's notice! If I don't keep up and do MY part-take the meds and show up to the appointments-I wouldn't even be well enough to hold a job or maintain a home!! So why don't THEY do THEIR JOBS!!!

Sometimes diversion works, perhaps spend some energy complaining to your local government about this industry. Your story here, and previous ones, are very sad for me to hear.
Gentle hugs
