An enormously rare ride to Pottsville Pa, past coal fields, on 2-lane winding roads, and walking on cracked sidewalks past some empty store fronts----but I loved it.

Was a major change of scenery for me, and since I don't have a car, ride was fun in itself.

Pottsville, as the photos I posted, might not be sunny California, but it is certainly a lot safer----and that means a lot, to me at least.

I can't afford a car, and at this point I wouldn't want to drive, but it was fun to be a passenger, in my olde age; maybe more fun than when I was a teen and had a car of my own.

Thankfully, it is maybe sinking in for me that SOME environments, even in rust belts and coal regions, don't have to be depressing, if you are in the right mood (the right mood involving being away from the bad reminders of my hometown?)

I think you're right about environments & settings. Humble ones are sometimes the best ones. And often it's good to get away from places with painful memories.

    A tree outside where I live is dying, seemingly from dog urine----with the bully in my building going out his way to not only have his dog urinate there but to have the dog urinate on the fence and sign I bought to try save the tree----and then slide the sign under my apt door.Turns out that was a TRIGGER for me----bullying and humialtion right out of high school.    I didn't realize it at the...
