Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I suggest to continue to meet new people. Realize not everyone is nice and not everyone will have your back. The more you experience those type people the easier it will be to find the right ones.
I think you should speak to your best friend. Call her or make a day out of going to see her. You are close, and she will listen to you, and understand that you are not fine, despite how much you say it.
however, this is just my suggestion. take your pick whether to follow it or not, I hope that you can say that you are fine and actually mean it soon.
I appreciate everyone's kind words and their support through all this. I don't mean this in a bad way, but I am glad I am not the only one who struggles with things like this, and we can all help each other get through it!
1. Try to start each day with being thankful for 1 good thing in your life. Write a note or 2 and stick them where you will see them and repeat them out loud to yourself daily until you get it in your heart and head. You have something to be thankful for, there is at least one thing you like about yourself so start small and work up.
2. Stop following your old friend on social media, you are only seeing her highlights and you do not know the things she is going through. Take a break and stop comparing.
3. It is time to have some fun and find some new friends. It is okay to grow apart from people and let new people in. Do something new or do something you know will bring a smile to your face: amusement park rides, dancing, singing karaoke; whatever, just have a good time without being pressured to share it or whatever.
4. learn to love you again. Take some time to discover the person you are and the things you enjoy. You are growing as a person and change happens, so embrace it.
Please continue to reach out and if your symptoms do not resolve over the next few weeks, please speak with a professional. I am sure your school has some people you an reach out to, do not be afraid to ask for help. We all need it from time to time. Hugs
