Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Its easier said than done. I am one that lives the mistake over and over..even some conversations..so i wish i was not like this
Has anyone tried doing it to themselves.
I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU SCREWED UP THIS PROJECT. YOU MISERABLE PIECE OF CRAP. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN. WHAT THE F ARE YOU DOING.
OKAY, THAT'S IT. I LOVE YOU AND WE WILL GET OVER THIS.
After you have yelled at yourself, you call it a day on self-blame and deprecation.
It's true, though, that we could all use a little less self-deprecation, maybe even less self-yelling, as most of us are unable to turn it off once we start. How about the fact that even millionaires screw up, on public TV of all places, repeatedly - so maybe our little tiff yesterday with the missing, unedited report that made its way to our boss's desk 2 hours late isn't that bad in the long run :)
However...about the yelling at yourself like a coach...gotta say, it doesn't always work. I've actually described my depression (and OCD too) as something very similar...my visual was always a little jailer or warden living in my head, yelling at me.
Not saying that a good self-yelling can't be constructive at times. But other times, it just goes the other way and I end up wanting to curl up with my blankie and cry lol...
