Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Thank you for being real on here. That's a step towards the right direction! :) Regardless of whether or not you're a reader, it sounds like reading some books about loneliness or about loving yourself could be a great place to start! Books have been my place of solace with my many weaknesses that I have found over the years. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised to see that someone out there doesn't only completely understand your feelings and underlying thoughts, but they can interpret them and give you tools to overcome them (or at least put you a step in the right direction). The reason why I recommend books for you is because you mention that you can't get yourself to open up to your therapist yet. Maybe reading a good quality book will not only give you and your therapist something to talk about during your sessions that can indirectly help to walk her through what you're going through, but it will act as a source for advice and understanding without making you feel that you are in the spotlight. I hope that you can find your solace in books as well.
I wish I had some to suggest to you - you and I are among the many who have trust issues, many of them that may stem from our pasts -but I currently have my nose in three or four books that are helping me think through some other issues I've been struggling with. And I will share that never in my life have I been a type to pick up a book and read for fun. But when you find a book that is so relevant to where you're at in your life in that moment, you might find that you can't put a book down! I hope you find your solace, regardless, but please keep us posted on here if/when you can. :) take care!
I will be keeping you in my thoughts a prayers.
