My car was deemed a total loss. A rat got inside it. Ate thru wiring. The last thing I did was drive it 30 miles away from home to have the service center tell me and my insurance how much it would be to fix it. And they tore it apart then deemed it a total loss. I no longer have my decent 2015 corolla. I drove it off the lot in 2015. I drove it daily after that. Heck I think i spent more time in that car than I did in my house. I was sad to see it in pieces. Only had 2 small dents. But was a total loss.
That rat. I am being blamed for what it has done. Apparently if you are a messy person with kids and park in a barn the rats will eat your wires and seats. I was called some things I shall not repeat.
The same person blaming me for the vehicle damages is also saying I am only allowed to drive the '05 f150. The rust bucket that leaks gas. The same truck they refused to drive to pick me up from the service shop 30 minutes away. The truck they told me was unsafe is now tell me is my only mode of transportation. It's not good enough for them buts it's all I am allowed. Now THAT is true love. (<-sarcasm) and 95% of the time I am driving our kids somewhere. Oh selfish me.
My moms ford edge has a simmilar problem and we spray the inside of the engine compartment with pepermint oil to help keep them away and i need to install a screen on the air intake to keep them out of the cabin.
You are NOT at fault for this... in fact im suprised that Toyota hasnt been sued over this.
Truth be told wiring harnesses can be replaced if the manufacturer still makes them. Yes they can be expensive and depending on the damage they can be mended.
Your hisband needs to become a MAN and not a petty POS.
Rian, Toyota was sued for not covering damages due to rodents munching. This was happening while the vehicles were under warranty and i do not know the outcome of the lawsuit.
Honestly at this point i want that car replaced. I don't want a soy based car. We have many rodents (raccoons, possums, cats, rats, mice, birds and more) that claim that barn/ garage as home and no matter what we do we will almost always have a new friend show up in there.
Rats and mive hate pepermint oil so you might try spraying that around. Its aboit 30 bucks per gallon though.
Another thing is to spread around mothballs in the area and crushed moth balls.
