I have those Carly Simon lyrics stuck in my head, including when I walk 2 miles to Walmart.
I can't even afford a new bicycle right now, to bicycle the 2 miles to Walmart, and have to start walking around 5 in the morning, cause my blood pressure pills make me sensative to the sun.
But, at age 54, and with a broken leg from 2006, I can walk the 2 miles with no trouble. And, my 19 year old cat has bounced back from almost daily vomiting up water. It's warm, so no more $300+ electric bills cause of the heaters in my apt.
In my nerdy, stupid, youth, I had a car, a couple lousy relatives, some phoney friends, and a pseudo-fuller life. But, right now, no hassles from anybody, though that comes from being reclusive. And at age 54 for me/19 for my cat, I will be more alone in just a couple years, with declining health; age 60 nothing to look forward to.
Just my desperate way to try to convince myself to be glad for whatever I do have....in the now. I could be worse off, and eventually will be, though don't know if that's depressing in itself, or should inspire me to feel better....now.

A tree outside where I live is dying, seemingly from dog urine----with the bully in my building going out his way to not only have his dog urinate there but to have the dog urinate on the fence and sign I bought to try save the tree----and then slide the sign under my apt door.Turns out that was a TRIGGER for me----bullying and humialtion right out of high school. Maybe you could look into a salvation army or goodwill store, they may have bikes in there pretty cheap. Just a suggestion. Be careful out on those roads.
i can't even repair a bike chain; walmart $5 tool for it bent. I'm hoping to find the cheap bike repairman in another town, but having no luck with that. Two other bike repairmen, miles away, charge $20 an hour for repairs.
I'm glad your daughter's dog is ok. 2001 for me to have a dog for a pet, probably 4ever for me.

now if I can cure my pockets from emptying out their money I would say I am on the road to recovery...but, sadly no here I sit high centered on the curb spinning my wheels...
And, seriously girl a bike at you age? Damm I can't even ride one a mile. U are a super trooper in my book if if you are looking 4ward to riding a bike....
well, your mistaking my gender at least made me laugh, in my kinda depressed state, though i hope you dont feel bad about the mistake.
and, i've long ago thought how ME still being alive says a lot.
Maybe my cat got sick from being addicted to laying on bleach cleaned kitchen floor, or town's lousy water....a steroid shot from vet, no more bleach, and bottled water to drink, seems to have helped him a lot.
You don't have to be alone Penn, like Summer said, there are always shelter animals who would love to have you for a daddy :0)
and we never know what tomorrow will bring and good things that just may very well be there for you in the future.. Heck, I will be 54 next month. We're young!

been awhile 4 me to be on here. And now it's 430 in morning, for still ANOTHER walk to walmart, this time during school day; start in about a half hour to try to avoid school traffic; even have to walk a road where the buses are parked.
i'm glad YOU feel young....i probably am stuck never having developed mentally past some teen year, though i probably don't realize it;)
