Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I suffer from daily panic attacks at times. One quick easy tip that has helped me.
Look around: find 5 things you can see (name them outloud if you can)
4 things you can touch (I go and actually touch them)
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste
It's called grounding I find it really helps when I feel like I am losing control.
Most people say to breathe I find that doesn't help me at all. So I really like this .
Also I try and actually ask myself what is going on. Why specifically am I "losing it", what was it that triggered this reaction. Then think about what do I really want to do at this moment that would help me get through this fear and panic ( a hot bath, setting my timer and cleaning something, sitting down and reading a book for 10 min. Putting on my favorite movie, listening to music etc.)
