Depression Support Group

This is probably a little off-topic, but I was depressed and stressed 'cuz I needed video conversion software to down-convert AVCHD video files into standard-definition DV format for editing with my old existing editing software (I can't afford an HD editing software/computer upgrade right now).
The problem was that during the down-conversion, the software wouldn't format the aspect ratio (16x9 full-frame widescreen) correctly, so I'd either get letterbox (black bars on the top and bottom of the image) or pillarbox (black bars on the left and right sides of the image) with an anamorphic left-to-right squeeze of the center image area.
I reinstalled an older version of my video editing program, Adobe Premiere 5.1, imported the converted files in there, exported them at proper 856x480 standard-definition widescreen DV format, and they work just fine. There's some interlacing shimmer, but I can deinterlace the video to smooth that out a bit.

What you do (once you've downloaded both these free programs) is open up MP3 Rocket and download the video you want. This may take a while since movies and videos are usually pretty large files. First it downloads the video side, then the audio, then it joins the two. It will say finished.
Then open up DIVX converter. (Make sure the output file is Home Theatre). Look into open files...it will default to MP3 Rocket files. Find the video you want and open it. Hit start and it will convert to DIVX. Once the conversion is done, go into DIVX movies and transfer the divx movie into the flash drive and then remove the flash drive from the computer, plug it into the flash drive port on the dvd player and play it back like you a dvd.
