Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
May NOT be a 'guy' thing....
I quite like going to my Shrink... But MOST times I think it's MORE 'girl talk'...???
My GP (family doc???) I go every 3 -4 weeks... She periodically has students.... EVERY time I'm put with the students Aaaahhhh! I FEEL so much worse - they want to know ALL!!!!
It damages me for weeks....
I find it 'detrimental' to me to talk, think, write etc about my woes.... I try to keep them out of my head....
Some people are the opposite...
Whatever works!
I find humour helps me!
It did take a while though to notice it helping. The first few sessions left me feeling worse but she warned me ahead of time that might happen because of the state I was in at that point.
IF I still had a therp like her, I'd be a LOT better off.
I don't think it's a "guy" thing though, it does help a lot of people from what I've seen and heard here.
I do hope this one is a "keeper" and will give you the tools to feel better!!!!!!
I know it is hard for SOME men to open up, but if you don't how will your therapist be able to help you the best she can???
Huggs Mal and I hope your session is productive
Talking about my feelings doesn't make a whole lot of sense, when I need to be doing, I'm not going to cry to a random stranger about my life when I can cut that pain out of myself and no one need know, so... I understand and hope you find some other way to cope, more positive than my own.
u have to talk about your feelings. it's a breakthrough way of making yourself feel better. you have to try. work thru it, feel the angry frustratied feelings...they go away and change..feelilngs are that way..they don't last..they constantly change.
