Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I agree with Katie that you're life is worth way more than any job. And your happiness is of high importance.
I quit my office job that was sucking the life out of me a couple months ago. I left and decided to do nursing school instead.
That very rational voice telling you to quit makes sense. I say start searching what other jobs could make you happy each day. That could be something to look forward to for tomorrow.
Life is too valuable to spend it miserable and stressed out. Plan when you can quit and then count down the days to that freedom :)
In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend any alcohol or drugs. Those may worsen your suicidal thoughts and mood. That's a fact.
Try healthy, positive things: eat tasty food, make things, get in touch with your spiritual/religious side if you have one, listen to music, read, dance, plan something fun to do, something new. Anything that can bring your mind back to the now, and the positive.
Don't you think?
You never know your luck. Maybe, just maybe, you'll leave that job and be so glad you did it you don't feel like a failure at all, but rather feel like someone who just learned the lesson Kafka was always trying to teach, of not wasting time flogging dead horses, and getting the hell out while you still are alive to do it despite not having cracked some magical code.
Sometimes realising you can't win and getting the hell out, IS winning.
