Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Just need to put it out there.
I feel stress. feel struggle. Trying to deal with new job, in over my head, adjust to new skills while being assailed with a public that is not tolerating learning curve. At least my boss is working to get me up to speed.
That's not to say my feelings aren't hurt, and that it doesn't worry me. I have good reason to be worried. It's really hard to hear negative feedback so much of the time, part of it with reason and part of it groundless. But, I go with the program and work to improve myself, which I believe is going to be productive. It's just if I hear one more negative thing, I feel like I will scream.
My coworker responded to me asking to be honest. I suppose I was a little surprised. We are not paid through the summer. She said the only way I would have been ready for this year is to have worked all summer (for free). I do not agree with working for no paycheck. just for "love". It's a job which means I get something back. I could go get a paid job for that. And, if I had taken the initiatve to put a bunch of materials together for a book that had not arrived until the first week of school, a different edition, or read a bunch of books that had not even been listed or sure they were in the warehouse, would it have worked? I don't know. I take exception to this view. Perhaps it would, perhaps not. Hard to say. I had surgery this summer anyway and I don't like what I feel is sort of an accusation, but I asked for it. What I didn't ask for was continued honest feedback from her, which she is now offereing. I'm getting coaching and all of that from my higher-ups and it's frankly all I can handle at the moment. I am trying to deal.
Also, I have been in sort of a perpetual crisis for the past few years. I simply can't afford to live on it anymore, and that is the bottom line. this is a greater problem. Maybe I should stop talking to my co worker about all of it. I don't know. I need to sort it out.

I live in my car and every night I worry about being attacked.
Don't tell her things. She may put her on spin on it, then repeat it. People do a lot of that. Some of the chumminess when you're new is just to gather info. Everybody isn't like that - but way too many are.
Agree so much - you work to make a living. "You should have worked for free all summer..." No. They use people.
never tell anybody anything personal at work,all they will do is spread it around and then some,
I may be quiet at work, but I like it that way, people don't know my business and never will
