Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
take it from me... 10 years from now, you'll want better memories of the last 10 years than sitting around playing video games
i know, the question is, how do you get to the point where you can do more than that?
well, the answer is baby steps
this example doesnt have anything to do with you, but its the best one i can think of to illustrate my point... anyway...
a few years ago i started to walk, just for the sake of walking. the first day, i literally walked out to the end of my driveway, and came back. i could have gone much further, but, i wanted to start slow. the next day i walked to the corner (a couple doors down) and back... then around the block... etc... and now, i walk 3-5 miles a night, whenever the weather is nice enough
if i had have decided to walk 3-5 miles a night, every night it was nice enough... i may have done it once... maybe even twice, before i gave up... but starting really small and building my way up let me start a regular habit that will probably last for years to come... and the benifits are huge, i started feeling them right away... physically and emotionally
i dont know what kind of goals you want to have for yourself, but if you can take even one of them, and break it down into small steps that you can reach, you can build yourself a plan of action that will work
remember that there might be dozens of plans of action that will work, so if the first one or two doesnt work out, dont get discouraged, just move on to the next one
i hope some of this helps
The present is what's the most important if these are our issues. But if I don't look toward the future, why would I ever go to college? Why would I ever study for an exam? Why check the weather to see if I'll be needing an umbrella any day this week? That's an over-interpretation. College gives people more options in the job market and can be an all around fantastic experience. Exams are important to measure how well you know a subject. And the weather, I'd prefer not to be soaking wet.
You can take care of yourself in the present, making sure to have fun every day, and prepare for your future as well. It's okay to have goals. I've built up a 1-3 ratio for myself, so for every 45 minutes of work, I earn a 15 minute break. For every 3 hours of work, an hour break. If you want to approach things like that, I feel that's healthy as well.
Stay in the present, but don't give up on tomorrow.
Best to you!
