"Success" and "failure" are subjective terms. Many people make plenty of money and still feel miserable.

Family, love, good health, creativity, productivity, and yes, money...I think a balance of all these elements is necessary to feel "successful".

Steven Spielberg has enough money to support his grandkids' grandkids so they never have to work a day in their lives, but he still works. Why? I think he gets bored, and he's miserable when he's bored, so he has to create the next new challenge, developing, producing and directing the next movie. I think he doesn't feel successful unless he feels he's EARNED the success; i.e. has SUFFERED sufficiently through the next movie production.
