Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm wondering if, while I'm in a pretty severe depression episode, there are any ongoing discussions about the spiritual side of depression; that is, if a automatic negative messages tape is playing in my head and it's just my mind and many spiritual teaches say "you are not your mind" then is there a group or discussion somewhere around that? I feel like if I can keep talking it out, I will be happy with my life, as anonymous and seemingly ineffectual as it is, and be happy when the ANT tells me I'm no one, going no where.
Hope that my response is better later than never. I have asked often about a spirituality group at DS. I think it is much needed and could cover a breadth of topics and reach many people.
Not necessarily a religious group, but an overall spirituality group would be great. I have written to DS about this.
The next thing to do is to publicize the group. The best thing is to post about it in the groups you are active, and to send PMs and hugs to your friends to tell them about it.
There are some faith based groups here, but it sounds like you are not aiming at that type of group.
