Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I feel like I'm a spiritual failure. I've heard many Christian websites say depression and anxiety are as the result of a demon influencing you. It makes me feel like I've failed like I was not strong enough to keep demons away. It feels hard to hear this because I've struggled with depression and anxiety since childhood and then that makes me feel like a failure throughout my whole life.
I have struggled since i was 12 years old with depression and anxiety it is normal for a human to experience, however, satan does use this as a tool to try and destroy us.
At my worst Satan whispered into my mind constantly for me to kill myself and when i tried to my hands were stayed because God was saying NO!
I only recently came back to Christ but he looked after me for many years even though my back had been turned against him. He still loved me even though i turned away. He knew i didn't understand and kept me alive until i could find him.... Truly find him and his love for me.
I still struggle though but Christ is giving me the power and authority over the demons that satan sends to torment me. I am a thousand times stronger than i was only a year ago and satan can no longer touch me even though he tries.
I still have depression and anxiety because life is hard, but satan can no longer use it as a tool against me as i belong to Jesus now.
Mark 16:17-18 ESV
And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Build your faith so you can hand over your stresses and depression to God. I still struggle with this as well but i am learning. Give your troubles over to God as he wants to take care of them for you or in the very least cary you through them.
1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Healthseeker may have some better verses for you but don't give up. Find your strength that he gives you and rise up stronger than you were before.
I pray in his name you find that strength today and every day now and forever. In Jesus name i ask that he give you the strength and guidance in any difficulties so you may find your way in the darkness. I pray that you always seek his light and find his love for you and that he teach you to overcome the demons that try to torment you by using his authority. In Jesus holy name Amen.
Driving home suicidal thoights were flooding in. I got to a stop light and i prayed and the thoughts and feelings dissapeared and feelings of pure love flooded in.
I cried because i dont ever feel loved but in that moment Jesus blessed me and allowed me to feel loved. He chased the demon that was tormenting me away and it felt like the holy ghost was wraping me in just pure love.
Whenever you feel weak look to Jesus and ask for healing and it WILL happen. May not be immediate but it WILL happen.
Romans 15:13 says- 'May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.'
This scripture says that God can fill us with Hope to overflowing - if we focus and pray on that. This combined with other good practices of taking care of our body - will make us feel the best we can be. Surround yourself with positive life giving people who can lift you up in prayer. God Bless!
